Vocalises: Teaching the student to use vocal warm-ups (vocalises) first are essential. A valuable method to get (and to keep) the voice in shape. Being able to hear and sing individual notes is very important in developing accuracy in pitch.

Working on contemporary songs that the student likes becomes a valuable learning experience, once the student has a good understanding of vocalises.
